    lyman mold

so i got a 4 cav 452460 off fleabay and man is it a piece of junk. there's a small divot on the face of the nose of the 3rd cav and the ends of the cavs on the ends are rounded so you get a little nub on the base. when you size it, it looks ok. any way to repair this or do i just have a $60 paperweight?

I suspect that when ya sleep with a ***** ya just MIGHT get a disease - and I think ya did!

    No offense intended.

I think ya need to do (or have done) some machine work to make a usable mould out of it. There are a few members here that can do and are willing to do modifications for you.

Otherwise it might make pills to make noise with or - yeah - hold down papers.

I was always taught to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder to find any!

Μολὼν λαβέ; approximate Classical Greek pronunciation [molɔ̀ːn labé], Modern Greek [moˈlon laˈve]), meaning "Come and take them" is a classical expression of defiance reportedly by King Leonidas in response to the Persian army's demand that the Spartans surrender their weapons at the Battle of Thermopylae.

What is the difference between mechanical engineers and civil engineers? Mechanical engineers build weapons and civil engineers build targets.

It's possible you have a misrepresentation claim with ebay, depending on how the mould was described by the seller.

+1 on that and totally agree. You might also contact the seller via ebay to see if he is willing to work with you. As said above, the shooting will be the acid test.

Shoot and see. I've got a couple moulds that look like crap that make fine boolits that shoot very nicely.

i have a mold that i have cast so many boolits from, the vent lines are almost gone and it pours over 1 thou smaller than it did when new.
it still is a bit larger than the size i need, but the sharpness is gone in a few spots.
it however still shoots as well as it ever has.
so I just keep on going with it.
i have a homefixed mold that was somethinged,[bought used] and it has fins on the nose of 2 cavities i just break them off and shoot them.
the groups are fine with it,even with the 2 cavities includeed.

I have filed a complaint on two molds purchased off ebay and got my money back on both. So it is possible. As was said, it just depends on how the mold was described in the auction.

Well if it looks ok when sizing, it should be ok. Try it and see.
