Burnt motor on Magma Bullet Master?

Today I burnt my motor on my Bullet Master. The shear pin did not break when a hangup occurred. The fuse in my shop cut power but I was away for 5 minutes and when I got back the motor was really hot and it smelled like burnt electronics When starting it again the fuse broke again.

Do any of you guys have experience with these motors? Does anyone know how much these cost? Is my only option to buy a new one from Magma. I've been in contact with them and they may be able to help me out.

I'm attaching a bad Pic. It was the best I could do without taking the motor out. I'll take it out tomorrow and post better pics if needed. This was also requested by Magma to help me out. Their customer support seems very good. It took them 5 minutes to answer me today.

Lesson learned today is: Don't leave these machines running unnatended. Share pins may not break when they are supposed to!

    Thanks

Contact MC Master Carr with the info on that tag and they should be able to help you. Graingers is another. The other info you want to have is frame style as this is how it mounts.

Go to Facebook and seek out the group "Magma bullet casting equipment owners". You will find there guys who have been banding together to share their knowledge of how to keep these machines running until the new Magma rises from the ashes of the old Magma. Several fellows there have had experience sourcing replacement parts from places like Grainger and MC Master Carr, and may have actual part numbers to give you to make ordering the appropriate replacement easier for you.

The info needed for a replacement isn’t shown in that picture.

Looks like that's a better and more cost effective motor. Mine is a Minarek 507-01-109 and after a Google search that one is dobble the price

Did you try powering it up after the motor completely cooled down?
complete cooldown could take a day...I've overloaded a motor once, very hot, smelled burning varnish (motor windings are typically coated with varnish), blow fuses. Next day, when it cooled down, it worked without blowing fuse. No doubt, overal life of motor was reduced.
    good Luck

That Minarik is a DC motor.
a DC controller converts AC power to DC..;and the controller also controls everything about the motor.

No, I didn't wait a whole day but 2 hours. That didn't work, the fused tripped again and it made a rattling sound. I could try to plug it in tomorrow and see

If theres an electrical shop near you you might look at a rebuild and rewind on a dc gear motor it might be cheaper than a new unit.

I visited one today and he said that this was a kind of motor that could not be rewinded. He stated that it was not a DC motor with regular brushes that could be rebuilt. He used a lot of technical terms, but I'm not able to translate it to English, but the abowe was the essence of it.

Was just a thought, some gear motors get pricey purchasing the complete unit.

They are pricey. Looks like must spend 800-1300 usd +freight and vat. It was expensive 5 minutes I left the machine unattended

If you could find just the motor your gear box is probably still good. Might contact the maker of the unit see if you can get a motor and use your gear box.

I guess this is the controller? It's the only thing that looks like it connected to the motor. Am I right? Everything in the control box looks fine but I've not measured anything, but no burnt leads anyway
