    Encore barrels value?

I have an opportunity to purchase a blued Encore rifle from a buddy of mine. It comes with a blued 300 win mag and a 209x50 barrel. both blued. I may keep the 300 barrel but really dont have a lot of interest in the muzzle loader. both are in good condition, not perfect but overall good. any idea what they would be worth as just barrels? I am buying the gun worth the money and mostly just have interest in the frame and stock. Just looking for an overall average value that i could sell them for. I feel that Gunbroker can be all over the place on pricing.
    Thanks

$250-350 depending on caliber and if a forend is included.

I paid $275 for a blued 300WM barrel not long ago. It’s a little finicky to chamber and close with the belt. A different 338WM works flawlessly.

You might try chambering and extracting a few rounds before you buy it and see if it’s an issue for you.

Another buddy has an Encore strictly as a muzzle loader. Says it’s the most accurate mz he’s tried.

My Encore ML would shoot 1.5” five shot groups at 100 yards using Barnes 290g with supplied sabots and BH209. Might want to try yours out before selling

You might want to keep that ML barrel if your luck is like mine(Murphy's Law). I had a good shooting NEF Huntsman 50 cal that I shot very sparingly and so I sold it. Well, just my luck, one of the best big buck Management Areas in my state went to archery or ML only as soon as I sold it!

Following them on gbroker for about a decade the ML barrels are the slowest to sell. They take their own forend. I owned a 300 WM and currently have a 7 Rem mag I swapped for. Mike Belm reminds us that the Encore is a 60000 psi gun max and though the manuals might take you higher, some loads will stretch your frame.
My personal opinion is that the 308/3006 family are better suited for Encores.
Prices jumped recently so if your selling that's good, if your buying, not as much.

I zeroed in two of the muzzle loaders for buddies. One shot a .5” three shot group and the other a 3/4” three shot at 100 yards. My load was 3 fifty grain pellets of 777 and a yellow tipped 300 grain shock wave. My omega will shot better than both if them with the same load.

Mike was referring to the 300 and 7 Remington Mags. You can probably take 223 higher.

    Thank you.

I knew the ultra mags were a bad idea. Just from reading about the Contender the pressure and diameter were used to calculate the thrust on the breech face.

The last muzzle loader barrel I sold brought $200.00, I was at a pretty big gun show and it sat on my table all weekend with $225.00 on it when a young fellow offered me the 200 I said yes pretty quick. With Thompson Center coming back, prices in this area are starting to come back down a little.

That sounds good. I bought a ML set up Encore that is not the later ML only gun. I wouldn't mind another barrel but no way am I spending $580 on a custom house barrel from the usual companies that support the TC guns. I paid half of that number for the whole gun with a scope and Leupold QR mount.

Same here, people asking 600+ for encore frames if you can find one is madness to me.

The Encore ML is the most accurate black powder gun I have ever owned. My current .250 Sav BBL is very accurate, but the 7mm and .270 ones I used to own were not. (I had never heard that the Encore frames were "pressure restricted"; at the time of their introduction, they were suppose to be considerably stronger than the T/C Contender frame.) The .308 BBL was another one that was exceptionally accurate - I foolishly traded it off for a different "sparkler". Most of my BBL back then were "Fox Ridge" produced.

My Encore 250 Sav has won prizes for both me and my wife at NCBS and my heavy 204 Ruger barrel is deadly accurate out to 600 yards in calm wind. Definitely make sure a fitting forehand comes with it.
