A while back, i picked up a mold that casts these boolits. It is a hensley and gibbs 148 grain, semi-wadcutter. They drop at .360. Flat base,
casting with pure wheel weights. Experiments are coming.

What is the mold number?
An excellent boolit. I believe it was a favorite of some of the best bullseye shooters back in the 60's and 70's. I had a four cavity that was my dads from his bullseye shooting days back then. I had no use for it so it got sold quite some time ago. Should be a good shooter in a 38 spl.
I have a 6 cavity mold that is very similar. It was listed on the H&G site as a bullet for .38 Super.
I can't off hand remember the mold number. But that bullet shoots well in a .38 Special load with about 3.1 Gr of Bullseye.
It is very accurate.
That looks like it would be my “Goldilocks” bullet for 38 Spl! Loaded light it would be just right for casual Bullseye in a K38 but could also be loaded a bit warmer and still be easy on gun and shooter in a Chiefs Special for EDC. Nice find.

Nice! Now show us pictures of the mold!

Its in good shape. Nice looking bullets too.
Stop being blinded by your own ignorance.
That’s a very nice mold. They just don’t make them like H&G any more.

A close friend passed away 10 years ago. He was a very active caster and had a H&G mold (4X) branded 73BB. Boolits have a very modest bevel base. He claimed this pattern to be the tightest grouping revolver boolit he had ever loaded. Diameter is .358", weight is 145 gr. with straight WW alloy. When his estate was being sold off, his executor offered it to me free but I refused. I paid more than the market value for the mold as all proceeds from this sale were to be used to support his grand-daughter whom he had adopted. The girl's mother was rather reckless. This mold holds a special place in my heart. When I cast with it I almost feel like he is standing right beside me.
I have one too, a 6 cavity but I wish it was a 4 cavity. The weight gets my arthritic thumb joints upset.
One of my favorite .38 Special bullets from the old days. Got a two cavity H&G San Diego. Visiting Ben right now for some exercise. He's already looking for one for himself. Bought it years ago from a hog farmer in the Virginia moutains. Said he was having to quit raising hogs. Too close to Camp David and the local people were putting him out of business because of the smell. (The hogs, not Camp David)./beagle
diplomacy is being able to say, "nice doggie" until you find a big rock.....
I bet it would do great in .357 mag as well!
Very nice indeed. Not something seen very often. I wonder if that was the inspiration for some of Lee's SWCs?
That is sweet. I just loaded up some Lee SWC-HP last night that drop at 148gr....150gr with GC applied. I really like your bullet better. I'm envious.

Big wide lube groove-deep crimp groove, yep, it checks all the boxes for a great boolit. Keep us posted on how it shoots.
