Just picked this off GB.
Remington rolling block #1 action but unsure if it's a type three or four? Still not in my hands yet.
Said to be chambered for the 43 spanish with a great bore, 18 inch barrel, sure it was cut.
Been wanting a roller in 44-40 for a long time so this one will be converted.
However I am having a hard time finding either a barrel or just a liner with a .427-.428 bore.
Red man's has a liner in .428 but with a 1 in 25 twist, not sure how well that will stabilize a 200 grn boolit? Have seen a few online say it is closer to .431?
Green Mountain has a barrel, 20 inch, 1 in 36 twist but bore diameter could be .428-.430 according to the rep I talked with. Breech end is .915, guessing way too small for the #1 breech threads. I guess a smith could turn it for a liner? But still want a .427-.428 bore.
Would appreciate ideas on the barrel/liner? And possibly ideas on a smith that don't have a 6 month to a year waiting list.
