You need to slug your bore. It might have .268 grooves like the carcano.

Carcano's were designed to shoot .266 diameter bullets not .268.
I tried the Lee "Cruise Missile" in my Arisaka, but it would not stabilize at cast boolit velocities. Since then I acquired the Lyman 266469, which at a nominal 145 gr is much closer to factory service loads. It works much better.

Guys, don't count out a .268 Carcano barrel on an Arisaka.
I had one like that, Carano barrel .268 dia. and all on a 6.5 Arisaka.
Got a 6.5 Adams and Bennet barrel from Midway, turned it into a 6.5X257 and it shoots great.
Even put a Richard's semi-fancy stock on, thanks to UPS breaking my Boyd's stock.
The Richard's was on sale.

Pm me if you find that you need an oversize die.
Night Owl Enterprises in Provo, Utah has molds in all manner of size and config.
My Type 38 would tumble .266" cast bullets but launches them good @ .268". I found an old Ideal 266469 off ebay and it drops fat bullets.
I had one of this forum's die makers do up a .268" sizing die for my Lyman 4500 size/lube press. I'm shooting these .268" in my Swedish Mausers and the Type 38.
This is a good one but out of stock!

Until you find your mold, check Steinel Ammo. They offer a couple different cast .268 cast (checked and coated) for the Carcano, a 150gr and 162gr. Like others here, my Arisaka will tumble smaller sized (i.e. <.266) but these do ok.
