OK People. Enough of this idle chit-chat.
This ain't your Grandma's sewing circle.
EVERYONE!

Honestly, it doesn't doesn't bother me if a member revives an older thread. If nothing else, it gives us a chance to point out how a particular topic has developed over time - either becoming more prevalent, or irrelevant, to just down right outdated... Look at my link in the bottom of my signature "Jdgabbard's very own boolit boxes pattern!" which links to a thread called "Let's Talk Storage". That thread is 15 years old and it's still getting responses. That was back when I was still lubesizing my boolits. I've been PCing for at least several years now, and no long use that method any more. As a matter of fact, I've gotten away from the last method I was using (4x4x4 boxes). Now I just use ziplock bags taped up and labeled - since I PC everything now I don't have to worry about lube coming out of the grooves...
If you've got questions, or even something to add, post away. Who cares how old the thread is. The purpose of this forum is knowledge. And as knowledge changes we should correct that knowledge.

GOA and FPC have done more in the last decade than your NRA has done in it's entire existence... Support the ones that actually do something for you.
Reviving old threads also has a purpose when the old threads reference powders that are no longer available and people have found replacements so the old thread is updated with new information. And the part about not reading the whole thread is one of my pet peeves, it happens all the time with new threads. People make comments that make no sense because it was covered 10 posts before theirs but they did not take the time to read the thread, they just red the first post and then skipped to the end and commented.

You should go in your settings and set it to display more posts per page. I think the default is 10 per page, which is a holdover from dialup days. Even still, the homemade BP thread is better searched through google than reading through so many posts, but thats about the only post on here that is interesting and very long that I have found.
I was talking about new threads with one or two pages max. I see it all the time.
I would rather someone respond to an old thread than start a new one. That way I only have to read through one thread to gather information.
I think the correct term is "zombie" thread. LOL
It is funny when someone responds to a question like "should I buy XYZ or ZYX?" that the OP asked like 10 years ago. As someone said above the usual next response is "this thread is over 10 years old I think they have decided by now."
Zombie threads don't bother me, there are a lot of times when the old information is useful. I have had some thread I started over 10 years before that pop back up with new discussion. I think it's kind of cool when than happens.
I'm only new here myself but I haven't seen anyone get mad about that in all the reading I've done on here. Usually just a bit of witty sarcasm as was mentioned to point it out as often people just didn't notice. I myself have found useful info from people posting new info on a decade old thread more than once now. Went looking for answers to a question, found an old thread on the topic and in the last page or two got the answer I was after after dates jumped from like 2008 up to 2018 or something like that. Had that person not added their piece a decade later I might still be trying to find the answer I was looking for. Just my opinion but continuity of a thread seems more useful in this type of forum than starting a whole bunch of new ones as we're basically compiling data to be searched through. I'd rather read through 2 or 3 longer ones that have evolved to the most current info than have to sift through 60 threads to find what I'm looking for. Just my thoughts on it.
I like rediscovering old threads.
Does lead to the question “if you love old dead threads, does that make you a nacrophilliac?” Asking for a friend. lol.
Me thinks...No...It means that you know enough to "Search"
Some sites admonish folks who ressurect old Threads...yet admonish again because you could have Searched!!!
Screwballs do Not believe stuff we Learned Yesterday, is viable Today!! Same folks that need to be Retrained after a Day Off!!!!!
or, worse yet...cannot be Trained, because they "Already Know"... Gettin worse...Not Better
Archived threads are a gold mine. Lots of times current questions have come up that have their answers in those older threads. In example: on this thread Bazoo asked if powder coating was "invented" on this forum. If you dig deep enough back in time you'll discover evidence that during the stone age early man discovered powder coated bullets in Australia. These first coating attempts were more difficult than what we experience today because those first Aussie pioneers needed to coat and bake their boolits with one hand while holding a cold beer in the other. These early PC'd bullets proved so successful at warding off tribal road warriors that were trying to steal your petrol that they decided to share their secret with the world. Today the process is so wide spread that we take it for granted.
I got a 41 Long Colt revolver two years ago. Lots of the loading data was in threads 15 - 20 years old. In some cases the authors were dead. The data was still useful and good though. I learned what I needed to from them.
This forum is a knowledge based resource. Researching old threads is one of our assets. There are no rules at all against doing so. However, it can sometimes be a bit disconcerting when someone posts on and old thread, followed by several others who don't realize that the thread is an old one and the information or event is now somewhat obsolete.
