I came about an interesting old rifle the other day. Best I can tell, it is a 1870 Snider-Enfield Calvary Carbine. Likely Portuguese given the ring below the trigger guard.
It's dirty, but as far as I can tell, it's in beautiful shape...Except for one glaring issue. The entire breach block assembly is missing!
I'd love to get the old gal shooting again, but I really have no idea where to begin scrounging for the missing parts. My usual source, Numrich, has a few things listed, but most all of it is out of stock.
Any other ideas?
I'm going to work on cleaning it up as I have time...I'll post pictures when I can.
