I ordered an assortment of sizes on eBay for a decent price!
A "Good Gunsmith" makes their own decisions based upon their needs, spending double the money on a rougher for every one off rifle you build is a poor economy IMHO and what has been accomplished by spending that money ?? If it is something you will use over and over sure. The world does not explode if you run a finisher in 1/16" at a time or .100 (my Grizzly lathe has a .100 handwheel" and clean the chips off each time.
So you can have 10 reamers you have used once with each one having a rougher, or you can have 20 reamers you may use once and maybe have one sharpened some day once you have done a dozen chambers with it .
Especially with something like 9x19, not that much metal is being removed.

+2 on what Willbird said. I have over a dozen straight wall cartridge finisher type chamber reamers but no straight wall roughers. I have roughers for bottleneck reamers if I plan on reaming several chambers with it but not for ones that will only be used once or twice.
+3 on what Willbird said. You only need a rougher if your running a production shop. A finisher reamer can be used of several barrels, and if not abused, will still be sharp & accurate.
If you don't already have some, you can get dark cutting oil at many hardware stores in the plumbing isle for steel pipe threading. I get a jug of the Ridged brand about every other year. It works great for chamber reamers.
Greetings,
I searched eBay for "Chamber Reamer" and found several offerings from Communist China and Ukraine.
Neither of them had "floating pilots".
Perhaps okay for hobby use.
I will stick with the Made In USA JGS brand.
Cheers,
Dave
