I recently finished making my second and last rifle. It's a break action .25-20 WCF that I made from a block of 1144 Stress-proof I salvaged out of the scrap bin at the machine shop where I worked about 50 years ago. I bought a barrel blank from Gun Parts Corp. and made the rest.
The rifling is 1 in 10, which is faster than needed for the cartridge, but I managed a bench-rested 2" group at 40 yards with iron sights. My eyes are good for distance, but the sights were real fuzzy. I'll try again with my reading glasses and see if I can do better.
