I recently finished making my second and last rifle. It's a break action .25-20 WCF that I made from a block of 1144 Stress-proof I salvaged out of the scrap bin at the machine shop where I worked about 50 years ago. I bought a barrel blank from Gun Parts Corp. and made the rest.
The rifling is 1 in 10, which is faster than needed for the cartridge, but I managed a bench-rested 2" group at 40yards with iron sights. My eyes are good for distance, but the sights were real fuzzy. I'll try again with my reading glasses and see if I can do better.
