Might be wise to do a chamber cast, then there is no guessing. You'll know exactly what length you require for your rifles chamber.

I have the Henry H024 38-55 and it will feed and chamber both lengths. The longer brass (2.125) will allow you to chamber a larger diameter bullet (or boolit) due to the brass being thinner in the bullet bearing area.
You can always trim the longer brass shorter if needed.
A population of sheep will beget a government of wolves.
Good luck finding any of the longer brass.
.30-30 brass remade into .38-55 is short. After having done many, I actually prefer the shorter remade stuff. YMMV
May I ask what Henry lever action is available in 38-55 or are you buying one that was rebored ?
I went to the Henry website and found nothing in 38-55 ?

Jedman I found this on the Henry website. Hope this helps.

Last time I checked, all the Henry models in .30-30 were also available in .38-55 other than the all weather.
Currently casting and loading: .32 Auto, .380 Auto, .38 Special, 9X19, .357 Magnum, .257 Roberts, 6.5 Creedmoor, .30 WCF, .308 WCF, .45-70.
As far as I know it is only offer in the Brass side gate model, with that ugly Stock all carved up and Henry plastered on it.
If it was offered in the CCH side gate model (only in pistol calibers) I might be interested.

I have a nice '99 Marlin Cowboy, so I don't fret over it much.

Huh. Last time I checked the regular blued version was listed in .38-55 so maybe that has changed.

Honestly, i was very concerned with the long brass/short brass thing for my rifle. To the point i paid WAY more than i liked for 100 peices of the longer brass.
After a few weeks of experimentation with different OAL, powder charge and all, i found the short brass better for function, feeding and accuracy was about the same with either. I went with the short brass as i want a reliable weapon.
Now ive got some long brass collecting dust that i will not recover funds on. Oh well, at least i know what to buy in bulk now.
