Howdy folks!
Yesterday it was a huge one that came out of the bush..
200 lbs, well-armed, and very thick.
I admit that I had a doubt about the ability of my bullets to make a mess on a big wild boar like that, but it was too late to think.
I fired three bullets well placed at 15 meters, but one would have sufficed. He made a few meters.
Of the three bullets, I found two. One in the boiler room, another under the skin on the opposite side, and the third went through completely.
It was the biggest I killed with the 45-70.
That looks like one we might kill here in south Texas - bravo on your shooting skills! And the bullets behaved perfectly...
My son killed one a couple weeks ago with a 30-30 that weighed 346 lbs on the scale - after the head was removed. We think it was pushing 400 on the hoof.
Here the biggest weigh around 250 lbs and it’s already huge. Congratulations to your son!
The expression around here is “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it”. Looks to me like your rifle/boolit/alloy/velocity mix is just right for your intended quarry.
Congratulations!
