Thinking of using newly acquired star lubrisizer with SPG lub instead of pan lubing for black powder. Any advice or experience would be welcome.

It works great. SPG is soft enough to not need a heater.

Greetings,
Interesting side effect using a Star Greaser with soft bullets.
The pressure generated by the Star during lubing stretches the bullet. It becomes longer and smaller in diameter.
The dimensional changes are subtle; but, they are measurable.
It took us a while to isolate this problem.
Cheers,
Dave
Seems to me ALL sizers would do that. The lead has to go somewhere when squeezed smaller. I know when I accidentally put a 45 through the 44 sizer die it gets much smaller and longer.
Greetings,
To further clarify, the bullets were sized to a nomimal 0.457". The center of the bullet became 0.456". The front and rear bands measured 0.457".
Cheers,
Dave
