Scrub the chamber every 200 or so to get rid of the carbon ring. Bore when accuracy drops off. My 10/22's usually need to be stripped down every 500-1000 rounds as the receivers get pretty gunked up inside.

I don't do much cleaning of the barrel but will clean the bolt and firing mechanism especially if it is an auto-loader.
If I am out in the rain and snow and cold then yes everything get checked for potential rust.
related to auto-loaders I find freezing weather will inhibit the action if it is not properly lubricated. I find a mix of 3-in-one oil + kroil to be good in freezing weather.

You're suppose to clean them?! I don't know if my 10-22 has been cleaned once in the last 30 years. Been mostly a barn gun and has worked every time I've pulled the trigger.
People who never clean firearms are why I never buy a used gun without automatically assuming the barrel is at least damaged if not ruined. I just assume I'm buying an action and stock and that's it.
If a firearm shoots to your specifications and you don't clean it that's all well and good for you but in the future somebody is going to have problems.
