Had questions on a few forums around my set up so finally put this together, hope someone enjoys.
I and before someone gets on the soap box about it not being real hunting, please please please just at least listen to the first 5-8min.

Wolfdog91; That's a pretty nice set up. Your statement in ref. to "running hogs" at night with precision hits is correct. In my day all we had was a light & a rifle, usually a 30-30 & iron sights, always aimed behind the ear but didn't always hit there. Would like to see some hunts & results.

That is a nice set up. Enjoyed your video.
Hey, if you get a pig, I guess it's real hunting!
I have an ATN X-Sight 4K 3x14 all I have used it on so far is a Hatsan .25 caliber Flashpup PCP air rifle with integral moderator.
Quiet and effective.
I enjoyed your video ! Get-em all
Those who say you are not hunting.... I sure do hope they are using a wood recurve or longbow with home crafted shafts with flint heads.

Great video. We are starting to get some hogs in the back om my place.
I may try to get rid of them.

I use the same caliber in an AR 15 hunting pigs in Georgia. I found the same thing happening with the steel case ammo not lighting off with weaker springs. The grendel and 5.56 don't have enough posterior to get it done like the 7.62. I have a Sightmark Wraith on one (the loaner) and a photon thermal on the other one. Tula makes a 154 gr. Softpoint. I laid in a large supply of those several years ago. $12 for 40. I agree with everything you said, you have a well thought out effective process worked out.
Wolfdog Now thats a proper Tri-Pod. My Favorite also.

Nice rig. I have 2 BCA 243 uppers. They work and cycle great. Sub MOA with both and hand loads. I have CMC single stage 2.5 pound triggers in both. I have a photon I’ve never used along with an illuminator. No hogs around here. Some day I’ll have to set it up on my my LTR 223 or Ruger American 22WMR. I have them set up with picatinny rails for quick on and off. Never would want to use the optic without a pod like yours. Holding a gun to glass non stop gets heavy really quick.
What night scope are you using?
Great rifle and I liked the video also.
The 7.62x39 is a great round.
Mine is an AR Pistol with 10" barrel for shooting from a stand. I have a 16" barrel on standby just incase the ATF decides it's a SBR instead...
I tried some 123gn Barnes X and got sub 1" groups from mine. I have a case of Tulammo in 124 and 154gn. The 154s jam occasionally.
I have mil spec trigger parts in mine, but I polished the sear surfaces very well and then stoned the hammer down slightly and ended up with a great trigger pull.
THE most fun you can have with you clothes on! Thermals on an AR!!!!!!
If you go to Hogswat and give then $1,000 per night, they will give you a rig that looks just like that, except it is 7.62x39 with no light but a very nice Pulsar thermal sight. the guide carries and sets up the tripod for you. good work

Wolfdog91, You did a great video and a great presentation! Gave a lot of good information!
When guns are outlawed only criminals and the government will have them and at that time I will see very little difference in either!

Good video Wolfdog. I've heard lots of people (on the internet) say that the 7.62x39 isn't worth reloading. I disagree. I've got three rifles in 7.62x39 (2 Mauser's and an SKS), and 95% of what I shoot are reloads. The trick to make it worthwhile is to shoot powder coated, gas checked, cast bullets. 155 grain bullets run great in the SKS, and I shoot mostly the RCBS 30-165-Sil in the bolt actions. It's been my experience that cast bullets are every bit as accurate as jacketed in this cartridge, and a lot cheaper to shoot. I use brass cases for the reloads, and only use the steel case in the SKS for plinking. Even if you don't care for using cast bullets for hunting, they make economical practice rounds for sharpening those hunting skills. Most 30 caliber cast rifle bullets can be bumped up in size for use in 7.62x39 by powder coating. About the only limitation on what you can use is what length bullet will fit in the magazine, and what will chamber. Flat or hollow points points would be best as hunting rounds, but you'd have to see if they will feed without jamming. Don't be afraid to cast and reload for this cartridge. In my opinion it is a better and more versatile round than the 300 blackout. I used to hunt hogs when I was younger, but they don't have any around where I live now. When you do go hunting, make a video. We'd like to see it no matter how the hunt turns out. (Hope you get a fat tasty one to put on the BBQ).
Good vid and presentation.
I use an X Sight and a Thor 4. We are hip pocked deep in hogs here, at times. They come and go. Mostly they stay in a big creek swamp across the interstate highway from my farm. As you noted, very destructive, considered vermin here in FL, shoot any time, day or night, except in parks or preserves, etc.
I run a 358 MGP (6.8 necked to 358), a 6.8 SPC, 30x39 (308 barrel 1-10), TAC 30 (rimless 30 Herrett), 24 GPC. Loosing brass at night is a bother to me because of the time spent formng and fire forming. So the 7.62x39 makes a lo of sense if you can buy it cheap, shoot it and forget it, if it will stay out of vehicle tires.
By the way, swamp hogs around here are only fit to be fertalizer, nasty smell and the meat tates exactly like they smell.
Good hunting, go get them.

I had some wild hog ribs last night at a LSU - Southern football party at my friends camp. As usual they are better than store bought domestic pigs.
They were shot, cleaned, cooked, and eaten within a 100 yd radius.
