I have a very sad announcement. I'll be brief as I am on my cell phone down in Kansas City this morning.
I just got a call from James Kluskens about an hour ago. JK2 as some of you know him. His dad, Jim (aka Distant Thunder), who we all know and love, died yesterday.
Words like "tragic" really don't suffice, but tragically, Jim was killed yesterday when a tree felling operation went bad. He was struck on the head and died at the hospital.
James asked that I pass the word to the shooting community,
James also asked that if anyone wants to talk with the family to call him (I can provide a number). Jim's wife and others are in shock. James himself is not doing too well either. They were tight. Even Jim's dog, Odie, is feeling lost.
So, this is the saddest news I can imagine, but think of Jim whenever you touch off a round or hear the rumble of the Distant Thunder. Those of us who have had the privilege of shooting with Jim are going to be lost without him on the firing line. For those who have not shot with him, he was a phenomenon unlike any other.
Maybe later, we can all gather together, perhaps on the Shiloh site, and tell few Jim stories, but for now, put your thoughts with his family.

Ps. James said he would keep me in the loop with regards to services etc. I'll let you know when I do.
