    Miroku Winchester 1892 Ltd Ed.

Just bought my first Winchester, a Miroku 1892 Limited Edition in 45 LC. Does anyone make a peep sight to fit this Tang Safety gun? Pictures would be appreciated.

You can have a williams sight installed. 2 holes 6-48 are drilled and tapped into the left side of the frame

My 1892 Ltd Ed has engraved sides to the action and I don't really want to be drilling holes in it or covering it up.

Is the tang drilled and tapped? You can put a Marbles adjustable tang sight on the gun if it is. If it’s D&T then check out Brownell’s or Midway for a sight.

Found a photo of a tang sight on a miroku at Paco Kellys website. Its a 1886 but might work on a 1892. Can’t post photos here.

I have an old El Tigre in 44-40 and mounted a Marble tang sight rather than a receiver mount. The peep is sighted at 200 yds and the barrel sights at 50 yard (although they will flip up for those 1000 yd "Quigley" shots <LOL>).

yeah that tang safety gets in way of mounting a tang sight. but that is a beauty of a rifle. Marbles makes about the shortest base for a tang sight ive seen. I'm not sure if it will fit yours or not. but there are also a few fairly new companies that are making very high quality tang sights, might be worth contacting them see if they have worked out solution for these newer winchesters.

Is it D&Ted on the top of receiver? Could get a Skinner peep. I have a few on 94's and 86's.

Marbles makes a tang sight for Miroku-made Winchester 1892s. Hopefully your limited edition has the small hole drilled and tapped in front of the screw that holds the buttstock on. You’ll order a base and screw set. The actual sight depends on what range of adjustment you want/need.

Marbles is the way to go. Not only elevation, but windage adjustable too. The underside of the sight that mounts on the tang is concave and nestles on the rifle tang. I use mine without having had to drill and tap. If the tang screw is snug, the sight isn’t going anywhere. Another selling point with Marble, if you call, you get a real person, friendly advice and free service on any rebuild

Any thoughts on the Marble Arms Bulls Eye sight? It replaces the Buckhorn standard sight.

Skinner also makes a barrel mounted aperture sight that replaces the rear sight. GF

The new Marbles sights I have seen are garbage, cheap pot metal and sloppy. Nothing compared to their heyday good stuff. I have been through about every iron sight made, you are challenged with the tang safety on the new 92’s if the tang is where you want the rear sight. The best and perhaps the most expensive route is to do the MVA Pope Style/ Marbles tang sight, you will need one hole D/T’d for the front base screw. If I was serious about getting the best out of the rifle without a scope I wouldn’t hesitate to use MVA anywhere I can make them fit.

Randy, can you be more specific about the challenge with the tang safety?

Spacing for mounting holes on the tang with the safety is very short unlike the 1873’s which are D/T’d . So the MVA is on a short base using the screw at the back of the tang is replaced with a longer screw, comes with the sight and a new hole D/T’d is needed to secure the front of the base behind the safety.

Curiosity satisfied. I have a Marbles tang on my Miroku 92 and there’s no problem at all with the sight base and rifle tang fit. It’s a non-issue.
