1Hole Na Na Na Nah I spent 4-5 years planning and working on it it was my first build up. converted the lever so a pistol grip stock could be used, made a faux 1/4 rib for the scope mount, tuned the trigger, nice matching walnut stock and semi wide forearm. Rifle and the 2-7 redfield scope go about 6 1/2 lbs. The shilen sporter barrel is 20" long and 1-12 twist, woodchucks out to 250 yds are no problem 52 grn bt hp are close to 1 hole clusters at 100 yds.
Sounds beautiful.
Well, think such a classic varminter would look a tad better with my old Unertl 1 1/2", 10x scope.
I had looked for a unetal JR in 10--12 power for it. I think the 3/4" tube of the junior would look better with the sporter barrel. The other issue with the scope is loading can be tricky as there isnt a lot of room for your thumb or finger. Some cut down the right side rail to help here.
Come to think of it, I've also got a Krag with a very heavy .219 Zipper barrel on it. Never have fired it.
Would my Stevens 108 Harwood Hornet qualify? The Harwood Hornet was a .25-20 Stevens case necked down to .22. Barrel made from a Savage Hi-Power blank. The rifle can be pretty positively dated to 1894. Harwood claimed 2000 fps, which was a hot load considering he had to use black powder. Unquestionably the first of the high performance .22 caliber wildcats.

How about you, the rifle and a fat old winter ground hog.

I've considered getting one of the oddball .22 caliber barrels built by CPA for my great-grandfather's Stevens 44 1/2. I've got the original .22LR match barrel that came with it, plus a .30-40 Krag that has never seen a jacketed bullet down the bore - boolits only - specifically the 311299. It would be fun to have something like a .22 Donaldson Wasp or .219 Zipper, but I can't justify the cost of the barrel or the brass and dies.
