An old High Standard Sentinel has been my trap line gun since I was 12. My dad traded somebody for it around that time. Generally use shorts.

My experience is dated. The .22 LR in Ruger Single Six did fine on possum, skunk, muskrat and coon, but was less than stellar on coyote, bobcat, big beaver and feral dog. The .32 ACP, .32 S&W Long or .32-20 gave sure kills without blowing the hides up.

HE wants to know what YOU know.
Keep it to yourself.
A High Standard Dura Matic did the chores for me.
22 bullet hole in head does not matter. A 22 short has kill everything I can trap in Iowa. I carried a a H&R 622 for years. For the last 30 years it has been a model 18 Smith.

used to carry a single shot 22 rifle but I just bought a Ruger mark IV for the trap line
haven't had to use it yet but that is another story
