the 307... a rimed 308...then necked up like the 358...
Can also use 444 Marlin.
There was a thread on this a number of years back that said it's actually easier than the 307 route.
All that said, my nephew has a Marlin in 356 Winchester that works quite well with 358 Winchester brass - but I'm told that the Winchester rifle extractor will not do as well.

wonder if 308 marlin or 338 marlin could be reformed. 308 marlin might be easier to find. wish I felt confident in legally shipping ammo ive got a bunch of 307 and 356 win I'll probably never use. I was going to have jess rebore a marlin 336 but have way too many other projects going on.
I doubt 338 Marlin would be suitable, not so sure about the 308 Marlin. Regards Stephen
Shipping live ammo is not that hard. I sent 22-250 VIA the little brown santa. It needs to be sent from their hub. marked as explosive and pay the shipping fee which was not that much more than a USPS flat rate box. The clerk did not ask any questions since it mas marked as ammo with the label
that I down loaded from the web.
Necked u-, regular 308 W works well in my Marlin and Winchester.
338 marlin has a greater base diameter and 308 Marlin is too short (it's 307 Winchester brass shortened). In the recent past, Hornady has made new 307 Winchester. Both 308 and 358 Winchester will sometimes work in Marlins BUT you have to pay attention to powder charges because you can easily exceed the pressure limitations of the action. Best suggestion is either find correct brass at a gun show or on the internet or use new 307 brass and expand the neck.
