Probably a stupid question for you real gunsmiths, but wondering if you can just cut Remington threads over Savage threads and have things work out OK as far as the barrel being secure in the action. I know I can just cut off the back of the barrel where the Savage threads are and hope the barrel diameter in front of the old threads is large enough to cut the threads for the Remington action to have a Rem-age setup.
Trying to keep the barrel as long as I can. Want to make a 22 BR on a Rem action and my only 1-9" twist barrel is a small shank Savage barrel.
