Deluxe is right! Love the wood and shape of the stock/semi-pistol grip.

They were making works of art for rifles back in those days, craftsmanship at its finest... real nice gun
I'd hate to see the price tag for that beauty.

You're not making it a safe queen either! Good for you!
Life is to short to shoot an ugly rifle. That ones sure a looker !
That is one beautiful 86.
Fine wood and metal.
I envy you the country where one can go out and convert yonder rock into gravel with a dose of applied lead.
So glad to it out slinging lead instead of sitting in a safe some place.
You have SPLENDID taste I must say!

That is some nice wood. I always buy myself something but not like that and thanks for shooting it. All guns deserve to be used.

What an outstanding example of a 1886 Deluxe! The Winchester Craftsman, at the time put a lot of effort into these rifles. The final execution, resulted in a timeless "Classic". The shotgun buttstock and condition makes this Deluxe, ever the more desirable.
It would be interesting to know what part of the Country, Winchester sourced their wood from.
Over the years when I have run across older rifles from this era, regardless of the present condition. I try to momentarily visualize, what that Rifle looked like the day it was completed. In the case of your rifle very little imagination is necessary.

Half octagonal to boot! My favorite profile!!! That’s is one fine looker.
I've been admiring the pics of that rifle since post number 1. Wonder who ordered it new? Have you lettered it?

Beautiful! It seems to have every feature any of us would want in a premium rifle. The figured wood, crisp checkering, color case hardening, the barrel. . . Perfect!
