What Powder ?

If I was working up a load in today's environment, I would make up a list of powders that have worked for others and buy 8 lbs of which ever powder I can buy. 8 lbs of a powder that give 1 MOA ,trumps 1 lb of powder that gives 1/2 MOA. At least I could shoot something until powder becomes available again. Figure about a year for things to get back to the new "normal".

I had good luck with the lighter bullets using 2230 and AR Comp. Still have an unopened Keg of the Comp.

So What are good Accurate powders for the 223 these days ?

AA2230 for bullets up through 55 gr.

AA2460 for bullets of 60 - 75 gr.

Going off on a tangent, a Savage 110 is one of the easiest rifles to rebarrel yourself!

I am having success with IMR 4166 and 50 grain bullets .

H335 or H322 have worked really good for the 50 to 55 gr. Also Varget and win 748 for 62 gr to 69 gr . I have varget And reloader 15 for the 70 to 77 gr but it’s been a long time since I tried the heavies. BLC2 has also worked decent for 50 to 55 grainers.

You may want to see what is still available, as the only powder I could find is Norma 200. As for primers, Ive had no luck for months, and check twice a day.
