Remington 700 BDL Varmint in .223 from the early 80s , bore looks like new .
I bartered a bit with my old cowpoke brother and came away with a dusty Savage 9317R.
Soon to be a resident of my truck for critter control! A neat "pill bottle" of CCI pointy plastic tip .17HMR ammo came with it.

My last gun is a Daystate Huntsman PCP. Looking forward to wringing it out this spring and not having to ever worry about ammunition or component shortages/prices again. Every squirrel within 75 yards will have a tough time.

S&W Model 63. Great little gun, lots of fun and easy to carry. Looking for a matching model 60 to keep it company in the safe.

Traded for a Rock Island VR80 12 gauge. Now I have to find a slug mold and a buckshot mold but I am not in a big hurry with the prices they are bringing now.
A Shiloh Sharps #1 Sporter in, of all things, 30-40 Krag. Found it on Gunbroker Friday night, called the guy, and we made the deal Saturday morning. $2339 including shipping and insurance.
Yes, I am a happy camper...

another shield and another lcp. Just made a trade to get my old tang saftey 250 sav RL back but its not here yet.
Picked up a Remington 788 in .223 this weekend.
You’ll like the 788. I had one in 222 Remington. I bought it new, took it home and put a Timney trigger on it,glas bedded the action and free floated the barrel. I got 1 hole groups all day long. My favorite load was 19.3 gr 4198 and a 55 gr Hornady SX bullet. It was deadly on ground hogs. The 788 action is very stiff and the lock time is extremely fast, it all contributed to accuracy. Tim
The 788s are great rifles.
I have two, a 222 and a 22/250, both very accurate.
I was in a friend's gun shop in Sydney years ago and he was ordering stock off the Remington sales rep. He wanted several 788s and the rep explained that he mightn't be able to fulfil the order as they were in the process of discontinuing the 788s as they were cutting into the model 700's sales and the production of two different types of rifles was uneconomical.
They have a bit of a cult following.
From what I have heard, don't try and refinish the stock, you'll never get it to look as good as the original finish. My mate did one and no matter how hard he tried, it looked very anaemic.

A bubba'd 1903 springfield with a good bore for $100. spray painted black with a sporter stock that looks like it was done by a beaver. I call it ugly boy.
