Can I just add some mineral spirits to bring this back to life? I have a quart from WLL that's probably 5 years old and it very tacky.
I figured I should do something to preserve it before it's a hard brick. Thanks!

Mind explaining what the 45-45-10 is? Much easier to determine what to use
I for one don’t memorize lubes by just numbers. There are too many these days
Thanks

You'll need to add 10% Mineral Spirits to it, so for a full quart, add 3.2 oz. and shake it up.

Yep, just add MS until it's the consistency you want...It will likely help if you heat it up, but I wouldn't heat it past 130ºF (the temp of typical Hot Tap water).

Put some water in a pan on the stove, put the 45/45/10 in it and heat it up until it is what you want.

I believe it's 45% Alox 45% Johnson Paste Wax melted together with 10% Mineral Spirits added once cooled.
Yes, warm it up so it's liquid, then add mineral spirits.
Someone here a while back recommended putting a marble or ball bearing in with lube so you can shake it as it warms up. It beats wasting lube on a stirrer.
It’s funny you would think a sealed bottle, jar would keep the spirits from evaporating.
I’ve even tried different types of plastic bottles with no luck.
Placing the jar in a container of warm water and hour or two before lubing is the ticket.

Worked out perfect. Hot tap water soak 2 or 3 times before it thinned all out. Then I splashed in a little MS to thin it down. Looking at it all cooled down now and it looks like I nailed the MS quantity.
I wonder if my wife would be mad if I used this as cologne.
