No one seems to have jumped on this yet, so I am at least putting in a response.
I am sure folks get tired of me promoting paper patching the smaller calibers. It is all I do, and I have never patched anything bigger than .303 British.
Pdawg has patched the 25-06 with good success. The .270 should also be a good candidate. If a 25cal can do it, why not a 27cal?
I hope Pdawg pipes in on this, it might just help.
I use the #270 Saeco in my 6.8 SPC Contender barrel. It is still in the experimental stage. But it is probably the smoothest casting mould I have.
I searched for this same thing a while back on this forum- A few have done it successfully, but by in large it is not a popular (or at least not often talked about) cartridge for cast.
Here is a response I got from KTW when I asked this same question:
here are a couple threads I found that helped me:I have put 270 gas checks on 287405 and sized it down to 278 with success.
I had buckshot make me lee type push through dies in 278 and 280 (two rifles, one with a larger throat than the other). Lee will also make you any size you want on request.
I haven't had much problem pushing heat treated RCBS 27-150-SP over 2000fps with 4198 and 3031 (still a work in progress, haven't hit an upper limit on velocity yet with either powder).
The nice things about the 270 are the generous case neck and the relatively uniform dimensions across rifles.

I have a lot of lead 7mm bullets, and I have a 7mm mold. Maybe I'll get a push through sizer made and try some 270 lead loads. I like the rifle so much, I don't want to be dependent on jacketed, as once my current stock is gone- replacement looks skimpy at best.
I dont have a 270 but I do have a 280468 mold that looks like it would be a nice plinking round. Here is a link for some load data on it: http://www.loaddata.com/members/sear...etallicID=2568
The RCBS 270-150-SP and the SAECO #270 (140gr TCGC) molds are still in production and available from any of the normal mailorder outlets. I have had good success with the RCBS 150-SP. I do not own the SAECO.
Below is a picture of some of the other 270 molds in my collection. Since I took the picture I have traded off the 280412-HP and picked up a SC 280473. Most of these are fairly easy to find in the used mold market.

Nice boolits KTW, thanks for sharing the pic. I have that 280468 mold but have never used it so it is nice to see what it drops.
The SAECO #270 is a good bullet if you can find a mould that's at least a couple of years old. I have 20 SAECO moulds that span many years and they are all top notch EXCEPT the last two new four cavity moulds. It's a shame what's coming out of Redding lately, at $130+ each plus shipping I have nearly $300.00 invested in paper weights.

I have a lee C285-130-R that cast in at .285 and i size down to .277 real easy in a Lyman 450 sizer die and they shoot great in my RRA 6.8 spc. Dont see why they wont work in a 270 win. Using Lyman #2 they weigh in at 124 gr.
The RCBS 150gr. Load with Rel 7. Outstanding bullet and accuracy.

Paper patch a NOE 269 145! They cast at .270-.271 in my ACWW. Perfect.
