    IMR Target

I'm running low on Bullseye and my LGS has IMR Target on the shelf. Anyone used this stuff yet? Is it grain for grain, same as Bullseye? How does it perform?

I am using it in 9mm and 45acp under 5 grains in 45acp for a 230 grain cast bullet , have not ran it over chronograph , but it seems to run fine , no complaints here and when I got it was pretty cheap . No idea on grain for grain as I used to use Unique in 45 acp .

I've tried it in a couple different cartridges. In my limited experience, it is just slightly slower than Bullseye. In most of the loads I tried, with equal charge weights, target was usually just a few FPS slower in the velocity department. As for accuracy, it was a mixed bag - some Target loads showed better accuracy compared to an identical charge weight of Bullseye, while other times Bullseye was more accurate. Again, with accuracy, the difference was minor. If I couldn't get an accurate load with Target, I didn't get an accurate load with Bullseye, and vice versa.

I bought a few pounds of Target a year or two back. All in all, I'd say it is just as useful as Bullseye. The only real advantage I see with Bullseye is that it has a long history and chances are you probably already have a magical load for it, where as Target will need a need a little development. But, as I alluded to, if you have a Bullseye load that works, the Target load won't be far off from it.

I've been trying it for several months and it is a very clean powder.

I bought a LB of this to try in 9mm with 115gr j-words and it is acceptable. Using 4.8 grains and it cycles my Canik.

It was developed to compete with Bullseye but the data is not interchangeable .
Use IMR Target data ...check their Load data center on line.
It should be a good substitute .
Accurate Arms #2 and Red Dot are some others that can fill in for Bullseye .
