They are both fine old presses. The A-2 uses shellholders you can buy anywhere. Herters uses something else though at one time I chased down an adapter for a friend so he could use the common shellholders on his Herters press. A-2 has better mechanical advantage. But you're not going to get an A2 for $50 either unless you get real lucky at a garage sale.
The A-2 is a great press, well worth the investment. Herter's model O? Which one? O Super? or the really big Super O?
from the picture it looked BIG. i'll stick with my A2. working on trying to create wrinkle paint on practice pieces. while i'm here; is there some type of primer catcher for the A2??
I have never seen a primer catcher for any of the A presses. I used a 21-A for many years and got very adept at catching them in my left hand then I moved to a small tin can that worked better.
OK, my new project will to design a primer catcher for a A2. that and figuring how to creat wrinkle paint
Winter is coming quickly, sounds like a great winter project. Keep us informed.
What is the difference between the o Super and the Super o. I just picked up an O Super a few days ago. It has two shell holders and an adapter to use rcbs type shell holders. Also are two Herters die sets that are a bit different. There is one set of outer dies with two inner sets in 300Win and 270Win with each set having a fl sizer and a neck sizer inner part.
