Adding tin won't hurt the obturation. I run 1 in 15, and that'll bump up 14 thousandths no problem.

Could it be that they didn’t want greasy bullet lube melting off everywhere and ruining gear and killing both ammo & ammo shooter???

It’s something like bhn of 5 vs 11, which probably was his point. He’s saying something that hard can still fill the grooves. I have pure and 20:1 lead that I can experiment with, but I prob should stick with the pp vs gg trial before my mind loses track of all the variables lol
That’s almost like original martini Henry round hard, but that’s another gun with an interesting barrel.

I used just soft leat with a little tin and patched an undersized bullet and got decent accuracy to over 100 yards with no problems. THis worked with smokeless powder too. IIRR my bullet diameter was 440 and I used a two wrap patch that ust fit in the chamber without tearing, I will have to look up the paper. But in my Carbine the Black powder loads were a real kicker.
I have no idea of the BHN. I do know using 1 in 20 with everything else the same makes no difference to the shooting whatsoever.
BTW The Martini rifle with it's Henry rifling shoots wonderfully with correct ammunition (that is, made like the original). Like I said before, feed 'em what they were made for, and they'll work.
