among the best molds made and certainly the best designs for serious hunting.
That one looks like a bevel base.
No LBT molds here, but plenty of Accurate and MP molds. All of mine have a shape similar to the LBT profiles (more of a LFN profile really) and the bullets from them shoot fantastic.
I find most WFN designs need to be pushed fast.

Thanks for the feedback...I'll load em on the fast end for my Ruger and see how they do...
Thanks DHDeal...good to hear...I'm a SWC fan, but open to try anything...sounds like it would be an effective game getter anyway...
I saw a whitetail deer taken with a 280 WFN several years ago and was in on the autopsy. There was a definite hole the size of the meplat in the hide at the entrance and a little larger at the exit but after the hide was pulled off, the hole at the entrance in the right rear ribs was large enough for me to place my thumbs side by side into the hole and the exit at the left front ribs was the same. The deer had been wounded by someone somewhere else and she was running but at the fatal shot she dropped and rolled dead right there. That is a nice mold you have there, just load it up or down for what suits YOU and the results YOU are happy with, but so far it seems like the WFN's are happier with velocity but your mileage may vary. Have fun!
Excellent molds, excellent bullets. That's why they are so widely imitated, and why serious hunters use them.
Killed my first two deer with 44 320 LFN's one after another at 100 yds. with a Contender. I know it was 100 yds because they were walking across my farm "range". Bang, flop...bang, flop.
I have 2 LBT molds at the moment including one that has been dropping great bullets for the last 20+ years.
Whew...thanks for the additional comments, Don and Joe...sounds like I'm going to be happy with it...
I've got a 250 LFN 44 LBT. I should order a WFN if Veral is still making them
Yes, he is still making them, why not?
I bought a LBT 2 cav 300 gr WFN .44 in the early 1990's and it still makes great bullets, I always got excellent accuracy with my Ruger SRH.
Thanks ioon44, good to hear...Looking forward to sending some down range...
You will love casting with Veral's mold. I have several, and the bullets drop out better than any of the other molds I have from all the various makers. All of mine are wide flat noses, you will like them. Veral made my first one back in the 80's and several more in 41 and 32 caliber. I always hear you have to push them hard but don't believe it. Also that they aren't accurate at long range, don't believe that either.
Veral Smith made a custom 9mm mould for me when he was in Cornfield, AZ, Worked great. No telling how many 1,000s of bullets that mould has turned out. Very easy to get good bullets. I also had him make a custom mould for my Moison Nagant. He called me to verify options and my desires. We talked for more than 20 min. I guess that is why he doesn't have time to answer emails.
Since this is your first LBT mould, be sure to read the instructions on how to pour with the unique sprue plate.
You will like that mold and design . He made one for use in my lever action and it works great in any gun I've fed it to .

Buy it cheap and stack it deep , you may need it !

Thanks for the additional comments....
Cast a bunch today...mold worked so nicely...
Are they bevel base boolits? If they are, the bevel is very subtle. I would love to have one of Veral's molds also but I have had a devil of a time with beveled base boolits. I have some 275 gr boolits from one of his 44 molds and they are dead nuts accurate. Let us know how these shoot.
IT AINT what ya shoot--its how ya shoot it. NONE of us are as smart as ALL of us! The more I travel, the more I like right where I am.
