Sounds like it's probably Babbitt material.

    https://www.dictionary.com/browse/antifriction-alloy

There was a guy in one of the other " identify it" threads that was looking for Babbitt for rebuild of an old machine he was doing, might want to look around and contact him.

that would be me, looking for some Babbitt. Atlas is also a game system so it complicates looking for specifications on bearing metals. I'd be interested. I am working with a couple of other folks on the subject, since they have some form of Babbit, but five pounds isn't a great deal of metal. I offered double the weight, and I pay shipping both ways. Tin-based alloys are pretty expensive in some forms. I've got a pound roll of 95/5 tin/antimony solder that I got for about $10 some years ago. Amazon wants about $25 for a similar roll right now. I'm not looking to screw anyone, not looking to get screwed either. Let me know if you're interested.

See page 134 of this catalog. Jake had it and this shows it listed.

$0.18 per pound for the stuff I think I need! I like that price, now to to fire up my time machine... Of course I need to go find some silver dimes.

Wish i woulda kept the stuff i had in my Kennedy machinist box. Sold the whole 3 tier box a while back and the 30 pound brick of babbit went with it... Used it as a counterweight in the very bottom to keep the box from ever tipping over. Lol
