Friend gave me a .303 round.
He know I collect old ammo.
It's .303 Brit.
Has a strong crimp in four places on the neck.
I'm thinking MG ammo.
Any ideas????

WW2 Japanese 7.7mm Rimmed, dimensionally the same as .303 British

Keep it to yourself.
What was it used in????
Is it the same 58mm, but rimmed????
Looks more like the .303 case than the 7.7 case.
Correct, rimmed case used in Jap machineguns.https://www.militaryfactory.com/smal...allarms_id=379

The Jap military ammo I have handled has had a unmarked head stamps. That appears to be an Arabic script of some sort. .303 ammo was produced in several places in the middle east.
Looks like Iraqi .303 ammo if it was British the head stamp most likely would read RG VII for radway green MK7 ball ammo which was the standard ball ammo RG MKVIIz is the marking for mg ammo loaded with nitrocellulose powder rather than cordite. Z can be used in a rifle but you will notice a bit more recoil.
On another forum, they said it is iraqi too.
