Picked this up at the LGS a while back. Had 20 cartridges in excellent condition in it. Plan on pressure testing 10 of them.

Looking forward to the results. Velocity too if able.
hey Larry!!! this was like 2 weeks ago???
wondering how worked???
Any technology not understood, can seem like Magic!!!
I will love the Lord with all my heart, all my soul, and all my mind.
Sorry about the delay but my testing has been on hold for a couple weeks. Last road trip had a complete tread separation on the right rear tire on my PU. Was pulling the 5th wheel so it was fortunate the tire didn't blow as I was doing 60 mph. Anyway the tread and frayed belts tore up the fender well. Since they don't "repair" anything anymore the PU has been in the shop getting a whole new rear quarter panel. Wa done last week but the local bed liner place's machine went down and they wouldn't be up and running for a month......so, I'm off to Kingman tomorrow (64 miles) to get the bed liner sprayed on then back to the shop to get the tail gate, 5th wheel and tool box back in. Hoping to get it back on Friday but odds are it won't be done till Monday.......
Anyway, that all means w/o the PU I can't haul the equipment to the range to set up for testing........ Hoping for next week......

Got a chance to test the old REM-UMC 44 Russian factory ammunition yesterday. It was hot, 95 - 100 in the shade with 13% humidity.
Out of the Contender test barrel (8.4") the muzzle velocity was 819 fps with and SD of 17 and an ES of 50 fps. The pressure ran 14,600 psi with a SD of 400 psi and an ES of 1,200 psi.
Out of my Ruger 50th Anniversary FTBH (velocity only) with 6 1/2" barrel the 44 Russian ran 776 fps at the muzzle. The SD was 18 fps and the ES was 51 fps.
That is very uniform internal ballistics given 10 shots in the Contender and Ruger.

Thanks for sharing Larry.
No doubt that was both accurate ammo in its day and even today.
I have a partial box that looks like yours. Ammo came out of the 'old' post office here in town when the 'new' one was built in the late 1950's. Unfortunately, the S&W .44 special that was with it did not come wit the ammo.
Now I'll have to shoot some.

I missed this..........
