Does it happen to other folks? Is it avoidable?
My gun is Yugo M48A original in 8x57. I understand the 75 degree angle of the forcing cone is not friendly to paper bullets though.

Lay your patch over the start of the ogive, shoot and see what happens. It may work well.
To paraphrase Ronald Reagan, the trouble with many shooting experts is not that they're ignorant; its just that they know so much that isn't so.
Welcome to the forum. You will find someone will know what you need. Good luck
I use a tough .003" tracing paper, it's really tough. But, as others state the patch should be at least 1/32" past the ogive, should help.

How about a lube that is drying rather hard? Does Johnson paste wax is of that type? I am using Lee liquid Alox.
I bought one of those 6mm 14$ borescopes from evilbay.
First bore I put it in happened to be a Mosin, and right there where the neck of the brass ends was a 90 degree square edge with little lead icicles hanging from it.
A bit of reading, a bit of whittling on a piece of hardwood dowel. A saw cut to make a slot in the end. Loaded some 0000 steel wool in the slot, chucked the other end in my drill and gave it about 20 seconds of full power and hard push.
Scoped it again, no more 90 degree square edge, instead I had a nice smooth radius.
No more chambering problems with some of my larger bullets, better acccuracy, you name it.
Start with a look to find the problem, go from there.
You could have a square edge like mine, a burr, who knows what.
Yes assuming you have a good barrel, burr free, I think your LLA should be nice and stiff drying enough. I will be trying LLA on my next batch, of patched.

...But for a mauser that has to be fed from the magazine...?
