You didn't say what use you had for the ammo cans, but the foreign made cans aren't dented, rusty, or dirty. With a few exceptions, the price is right, and their available.
The plastic cans, well they are plastic.
Before the repop and plastic we were at the whim of the gov, and military as to condition and if we were offered at whatever price.
The way I see it, we now have a plethora of choices at predictable prices. In other words the best we've ever had it.
Information not shared. is wasted.
The plano ones are nice.... Until 500 lbs of lino ingots in 12-2 gal buckets migrate during hard breaking from the tailgate end to the cab with only a 2x6 to separate them. At least they were full of tire chains and did buffer the impact of the lino and the front of the bed.

The plastic ones break the seal when loaded up. The larger they are the easier this is to do. You can see the tops flex when lifting them. I have some of the MTM 50 cal cans and they’re for sitting on a shelf only. I don’t expect them to keep water out in a flood. And they aren’t meant for hard use.
