Does anyone know what the OAL is supposed to be for a .223 with a RCBS 22 55 SP boolit? I have measured from the lands for max length, just wanted to know if there was a recommended length. I can find data for Lyman molds, just not for RCBS.

If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.
I found a magazine article on LoadData.com with data for that boolit. They show 1.180".

I would seat the boolit so when the round is chambered in a bolt gun, the lands leave witness marks on the nose.

Three things control the OAL of any round for a rifle.
The distance from the ogive of the bullet to the lands. Some prefer the ogive t touch the lands, others prefer it to be off just a few thousandths.
The maximum length the magazine allows if magazine fed. also in conjunction with that is the maximum length for reliable feeding from the magazine.
Minimal seating depth. Many prefer at least 1 caliber seating depth.

I have seen jump to outshoot touching and vice versa
You need to see what is what
My NOE 22-55 (clone of RCBS) is a bore rider style, hence the advice I offered about seating until I have witness marks on the nose.

Thank you. I appreciate it.
That is about where I was to start with.
Fairly popular mold, it is hard to believe that it was that hard to find OAL data for it.
