I'm surprised no one has mentioned "reusing" the plastic 100rd CCI packaging with slide top.
They are my favorite...I find them all the time in the range trash can.

Kind of off topic, but I scrounge all the 17hrm cci boxes for my ready to use hunting boolits. Keeps me from plinking them up! Reuse/repurpose!

I have been using the CCI plastic boxes for year now, storing small items. They work great as OP said. james
This Marbles brand carrier works for me.

Mentos and similar plastic containers work great for carrying/dispensing extra .22 rimfire ammo. TicTac containers are perfect for airgun pellets.
Cast is an adjective, a noun and a verb. Cast works as both imperative and past tense without any additional letters or helping verbs.
Check out the ammo wallet for 22LR.
I have one and it`s very handy.
Stick it in your back pocket.

+1 for the ammo wallet, and a suggestion for the Tuff Products quik-strip.
When I was a kid, I carried my .22 ammo with one of these:

I currently use a pill bottle. It's a larger one and it's soft plastic so if it gets dropped or set on it don't break. In the past I've done the pocket thing, used a drawstring leather pouch I made and a spring opening round ball pouch by safariland (I forget the model).
As a 10 year old, I had a leather ammo belt that held 30 cartridges. Liked it so much I had the part with the loops cut out of the old belt and sewn onto bigger belts as I grew.
Years ago, Uncle Mike's made a small pouch with a belt loop and a Velcro closing that would hold 100 rounds or so. I still have one in the truck.
When I get on the 4 wheeler, I usually wear a 22 revolver and carry extra ammo in a 35mm film cannister. I saved several of those back in the day. In the Summer, I carry two, one full of 22 shot shells.
