Just got done cleaning up my old STAR my buddy gave me. It does have a patent base on it but I do believe this machine is older and the base was replaced at one time. The base doesn’t the wear of the rest of the machine plus the curved lever on the back makes me think this is an older STAR. Still have to get dies and a punch for it, left a PM to lathesmith so when ever he gets back we’ll work something out. Now this doesn’t have the o-rings where the die goes so my only concern is will this have wax ooze out. I have a newer one with the o-rings and that doesn’t leak, now you only warm the wax enough to work so it may not be a problem. Be awhile before it’s up and running, as I said need the dies and need a heated base to start with. I painted it dark blue and that was from pictures of old STARS that I have seen and some of the parts I cold blued. It’ll be very cool getting this old STAR back to life.
