As others have correctly stated, ballistically the 6.5C, 260R and 6.5Sweede are just about bout identical in this respect.
Currently New 6.5C brass is cheaper than new 260R brass, But 260R is Very Easily formed from 243 brass which is cheaper than either one. Also 260 can be formed from 308 or 7mm-08 brass with very little fuss. 6.5C would take fireforming and much more fuss.
6.5C brass is supposed to last longer than 260 due to the different body angle so I have been told.
The 260 began as the 263 Express in the early 60s, later most folks called it the 6.5-08, in 1997 Remington decided to call it theirs after changing one dimension by 1or 2 thousandths of an inch. Early on the custom rifles had the right twist for whatever they were intended to shoot. This was the preferred caliber for Many NRA highpower competitors for a long time and won many many matches.
The 6.5C was introduced by Hornady in 2007 and will work with many but Not all 308 magazines as we recently found with an AR-10 wee have been tinkering with. 2 brands we tried functioned fine 1 would not. The 1 that would not would however function fine with the 308s it is intended to feed (yes we had a 308 upper and a 6.5C upper and used the same lower for our tests). We strongly suspect the different body taper of the 2 cartridges made the difference with the mag.

Northmn re the 25-08 or 25 Souper:
The Souper was developed in the late 50s and many lost interest in the cartridge some time in the 60s. Not sure why folks don't take to the Quarterbores much, they are quite versatile. Die and reamers are still available but not cheap. these could also be easily formed from 243 brass Etc.

I'm planning to keep my velocity mid-range and enjoy excellent accuracy, so I won't need the added potential of the 6.5x55 or .260. I do reload but I am not averse to using factory ammo. Local shop carries two varieties of 6.5 Creedmoor hunting ammo for around $20.00 a box. Add $10-15.00 to that price for the other two rounds, if they are even in stock. As I've already mentioned, there are no low cost rifles in those rounds either so add on several hundred if you want to purchase a 6.5 caliber rifle that is not the Creedmoor.
Couple of questions. My understanding is that the .250 Savage is actually the parent case for the 6.5 Creedmoor. Does this mean that I can just run .22-250 brass through my 6.5 Creedmoor sizer die for instant 6.5 brass? Just wondering in case I pick some up at the range. Also, I'm already scheming to put a different stock on it. Anybody have experience with Boyd's laminated stocks? They do make one for the 700 ADL short action and it looks sweet.

I had a 250 savage when I was a kid, it was well balanced, accurate, wonderful.
.
I re chambered it to 257 improved,
then I sold it.
.
I really miss that 250, it was the one that got away.
.
6.5 is simply the 250 Savage with a bigger bullet.
or
the 6.5 Carcano.
or
the 6.5 Jap.
.
6.5 Creedmore, ...mild mannered, accurate, sips powder, ...folks who have the .65 do not seem to regret buying them.
Sounds great, my kind of cartridge!

Based on the dimensions of the 22-250, 250Savage one could size them to make 6.5C, but fire-forming would be needed and the cases would be a little short. The short part may not be too bad and would likely keep trimming tasks to a minimum.
The fire-forming would be needed due to the body taper difference between the 2.

I've decided to get the BDL floor plate and mag for the 700 as this really opens up my options for stocks. Not many options for the ADL, Remington currently just offers the basic black plastic.

Please keep us posted with pics if you can. I bet you are going to love it!
IME Both the 260 an 6.5CM are sweet shooters! Nothing against the Sweede, I just haven't tried it yet.

Wanted to see if Ferguson has any updates for us.
Wondered if he ran some cast through it yet.

Your thread got me interested in the rifle/cartridge so I did some reading. I found an article on the web (so it's got to be true) that said the parent case was the 30 TC. I haven't looked for any more info today so can't verify it, just thought it was interesting.Couple of questions. My understanding is that the .250 Savage is actually the parent case for the 6.5 Creedmoor.
Ferguson ain't paid it off yet. You bet I will let you know when I do though.

I should be able to bail out the 6.5 on Thursday or Friday after I get paid. I like the OEM plastic stock pretty well but want something other than boring black. Krylon Fusion OD green worked extremely well on the stock of my Howa 1500. I bought an extra stock for cheap from Fleabay, planning to paint this one matte gray.

When you go to sell it the 6.5 will be worth more than a 260.
Good luck with any Remington these days. QC is horrible. An American, Tikka or Compass would be a far better choice.
I suppose we will find out. Other people report that the current 700 is better than it has been in a long time.
