Prime stuff! Good buy, should make great boolits. Might need a bit of tin.
Congrats, nice find. I wonder what will become of it. hum...
that looks like the same stuff that I have I got mine from a guy that put in sewer pipe he got me a bunch of it I still have 6 to 8 hundred pounds of that to make into ingots D Crockett
Nice score
that is wire casing so it is soft
cable sheathing.
My yards around here have litteraly TONS of pure Pb like that. Glad you can buy it! So many on here cannot buy from yards unless they are actual companies.
Good find.
ya are yards will not sell it to us
Funny thing about our local scrap yard is that one day a guy was unloading his truck with roofing lead. Since the bulk of this was almost pure lead I asked the weigh in guy to set aside 500 lbs aside and let me know what the total was. Use it for mixing in some antimony and tin. Total bill was about $150. The sellers truck was so heavily loaded the springs were almost flat. I usually go in there a couple times per year to see what they have. Frank
IF........your yards WILL sell to the public, it is wise to check in about once a month or so. I find that is the period where new Pb and alloy show up.
I am fortuante to own an engineering company with a business license to buy ‘stuff’, but the yards never ask for it. They are happy to sell to anyone with green or valid plastic!
Well cash was king on this deal and I prefer that. Bet if I offered em 2500 hundred for the rest they would deal.
Pretty easy to get "Corporate creds" - just a business card at most places. Everybody is hungry these days.
Jealous here. Our yards are "No sale to public".
KE4GWE - - - - - - Colt 1860, it just feels right.
I hate to sound ignorant, but what makes that worth $1 a pound? My local yard sells wheel weights at .28 a pound, although with less than half being actual lead, I find it hard to pay that much.
There is a couple of yards here. Only one will sell to me and cash only. As long as the math works out to less than a dollar a pound i will buy their mixed wheel weights.

That is a good deal for sure. I have only just started investigating lead sources. A buck a pound turns into 2 a pound if I add 5% tin. I need to research how to alloy pure lead so I come up with something satisfactory that is also economical.
I would like to alloy it up into Lyman #2 which would require 5 lbs. each of tin and antimony. Then I can dilute it in my pot with pure lead for softer general plinking and target loads.
