    Pattern to leading

It seems that I get different types of leading at times in my pistols and I was wondering if a particular type of leading goes with specific problems. For example what can cause.
1, leading comes out on the patch like a bunch of small pieces almost like sand.
    2. Leads just one land in the barrel,
    3. Leads entire barrel uniformly
    4. Leads one end or another
    5. Leads comes out on the patch as one long sliver.
    All theories would be welcome

Auto pistols? Revolvers? Caliber and make/model? The first place to look would be the boolit size to bore size and cylinder throat size, the second thing to look at would be alloy and lube.
    Got a .22 .30 .32 .357 .38 .40 .41 .44 .45 .480 or .500 S&W cylinder that needs throats honed? 9mm, 10mm/40S&W, 45 ACP pistol barrel that won't "plunk" your handloads? 480 Ruger or 475 Linebaugh cylinder that needs the "step" reamed to 6° 30min chamfer?
