the CZ550 9.3X62 only has a 20.5 inch barrel. if I bought and had installed a 24" barrel, would it make enough difference to have done the swap in the first place? also, douglas barrels from brownell's, are they good quality? Thank you-Travis

douglas is good quality. you probably gain in the neighborhood of a 100fps +/- going to the longer barrel, maybe a tad more.
The other gains will be some added weight to help tame recoil and it will move the muzzle blast a little farther away from you also. There will be some added velocity. Another shooting iron sights will be a longer sight radious. BUt in the end its what you want and want to accomplish
eeehhhh... that doesn't really sound like enough improvement to bother. I just read that on average you gain 25fps per inch? is that what you were going by?

thats a general ballpark figure, but every barrel is different. two identical barrels, one may be 150fps faster than the one that came off the line right before it. honestly in my opinion, if your rifle is currently accurate enough for what you need, id not mess with it.
A large caliber like 9.3x62 won't gain all that much going from 20.5" to 24" barrel. Quickload estimates around 90 fps with a 260 grain bullet and 62 grains Hodgdon H380

It's a nice Yugo 59/66 in your avatar. I did not know those were imported into the US of A.
well, it was quite a while ago, but I have a norinco SKS and just needed a pic for my banner, the pic is small, but it looks like an earlier Chinese model, because of the knife bayonet instead of the skewer, I think all Yugo's have a grenade sight? I could be wrong. but I did see one here in OK, it had the grnade sight as well. might be that they are just uncommon

Only Yugo 59/66 have a launcher, Yugo 59 do not.
