I've been reading and researching the 5.7 conversion, however most all the results have been spire point or some type of tapered projectiles. Any body made round nose ones? I've curious about them.

We have only made the spire point, they actually come out as hollow points. Maybe BT Sniper would be able to help and answer your question, I would think he would have to make a die that would make round nose our he could tell you how with the existing one.

I have made some round point by using the airsoft plastic bb's and adjusting the depth in the point forming die. Just have to adjust in steps.

I have some 5.7x28 and a round nose die. I think I will try and make some. Still have to prep the brass.
It will be awhile before I can get to this project. Don't see why it wouldn't work.
I've been working with quick loads and the bullet I'm trying for is a 1.168". I don't know what the final jacket length is. That figures to about 29 mm +/-. I like to work with jackets as is length, no trimming. I'm not locked in to that length, it's just a planning starting point.
Are you making these for hunting? .30-30?
I have only made spire points and some weird flat points as I was setting up the point form die.

I'm waiting to see BT's 30 caliber simple dies. Anxiously. When I can find out the weight range they can do, I can decide what I'm doing with 308 and 300 BLK swaging. I love the BT Simple 22/223 set.
I want 125 through 225 grain 30's. Can I get a 100 gtain weight range in a single die set?
I have his dies in .458 that convert .40,.45 acp, .308 and 30-06 bass for my SOCOM.
I had a machinist make a special order 6 S, based on Berger's 1.40 jackets which can get me to the 225+ gr., I started basing my 300 win mag on RCE's 1.36 jackets, to get at 210 gr. boat tails however he quit the jacket biz.
At this time I can only get a guess on paper as to what a .308 round nose can weigh in at from 5.7 FN.

about 150 if you take the case neck off.
a RN die could be made but the ejection pin has to be made slightly different.
but i bet it wouldn't take Brian very long to make one with the ejector pin even with the end of the die.
yeah a tapered round nose would mimic many of the older 30-30 bullets like the win power point.
only I think the 5.7 jacket would be a bit thinner.
I have used the no neck cases and left the die set to make the longer full length h-points, it makes kind of a RN taper design.
the last time I tried it I stuck the bullet and had to send it in to be removed.
so that ended that.
The one in the middle is 180grs. I trimmed the case at the neck. I am going to try and expand the neck. Should be able to get to 200grs.
Thanks, my dies are still at the machinists. I can only make boat tail open tips which don't work well on 5.7 cases.
My plan was round nose bullets from 5.7 as it is after reduced for 300 BO and trimming for M1 carbine, however there is not much in the offering. I read that 150's blew the bolt out of a carbine.

just bill, sorry for the delay. We just got home from my fathers funeral in southern IL. I would say somewhere in the .9 to.910 range. I did not measure them before making the bullets.
Thanks Pete, with this info., I may just change my mind about trimmed cases.
