Wow! Very nice looking slugs.
What is the cavity like in the "pointy" slugs? Is it straight or did you form the cavity then swage it closed?
I'm betting those big open cavities would really make a mess of water jugs and the might be the answer (or at least another answer) for close range self defense. I am thinking penetration wouldn't be deep but you'd have to mop up the mess.
Have you just got one plastic wad on those? If so have you tried using two on a longer tit with solid nose slug more Brenneke like? I guess for rifled gun it doesn't matter except for the penetration bit but for smoothbore a drag stabilized solid would be pretty nice.
Once again it looks as though you have an interesting line up.
Longbow
Lb ..those slugs all have the same cavity, Just formed farther into the die.
Wanted to experiment with a couple of things with these.
1. the amount of lead contacting the barrel vs. accuracy. The pointy slugs actually have no lead that will contact barrel and ride solely on the plastic..lead section measures .720 plastic is .732
2. How much the point of impact actually changes with the more aerodynamic nose. With all other factors being the same. Slug construction, weight and load.
These all have 1 wad on the base. I have tried 2 without success. But I have increased the rivet diameter, so another try is warranted..
I fired 3 of the wide nose this evening. Accuracy excellent..2 inches or so @ 100 yards..I will have to recover the slugs tomorrow, penetration was more than I expected. Will post results. D
It's basically a hollow base slug....reversed. Then closed up into the shape of slug.. D
I like it.....

Dennis,
are you going to make this type of slug in 20ga?
BB
Bb. Yes. I've got some made up.. I'll dig through my collection and get em posted. D
Hmmm! Lighter than a 20 gauge round ball.
I can make them any time..ive got a load worked up that will shoot sub 2 inch groups all day long @ 100.. is a modest load with 23.5 gr steel. Blood trail was working on faster load.. d
looks like you flinched on two of the shots! Very intersting
Look twice, shoot once.
I would have thought they would have 'silver dollared' against a hard target and not as effective as the solid/plastic base. Outuncledinostanding accuracy though. Heck, go ahead to 150 and give us some stats.
