    reboring by J.E.S.

    24" barrel, remington 700BDL, 1-14" twist re-bore to 35 whelen, will use 90% cast 225-280gr. 3 or 4 groove best?

He did an 1894 Winchester for me a few years ago, it went from sewer pipe .30WCF to better than factory new .38-55. Turn around time was very fast too!

He just did a Ruger no3 went from 22 hornet rechambered to 223 before I got it, he took it to 357 max and it shoots great. Highly recommended. 2-3 week turnaround and I think very inexpensive considering all they do.

It's my understanding 3 groove is preferred, but I'd say call him and he'll be able to tell you. I just told him "whatever you think will shoot best" as far as twist rate and groove number was concerned.

What does it measure? I heard he wants at least .100 per side so it would need to measure at least .558.
I have a 30-06 that I have been wanting to send for the same treatment and it measures .600 at 21 inches which is where I would have him cut it.
Nice looking rifle you got there!

He did a Marlin 30AS to 356W for me and he is fair, fast, does great work and is a very nice guy to talk to. You should give him a call and discuss your project.

Had him do 2 , a 30-06 turned into a 338-06 and a 1903 springfield became a 375-06 drove down dropped off the first had a call day and a half later it was done , drove down dropped second one off took a trip to coos bay for the night and he called to say it was done , very nice man , quite interesting to talk to and he test fires them also still looking for a 308 to turn into a 358.
My daughter who was about 5 was picking up fir cones in his driveway and he went into house and brought out a huge pine cone and gave her , it still sits on shelf , a very nice man indeed..

I have an old Sportsman 78 30-06, sitting in a 700ADL walnut stock, and I have very little money in it, and zero interest in it as-is, and I have toyed with the idea of having it rebored to .35 Whelen.

I wonder how straight his barrels are after reboring, i.e. whether a typical rebored remington would compare favorably with a premium aftermarket barrel?

I am not sure if he will move the sight.
I did not look into that since my barrel does not have a sight so it wasn't needed.
You will have to contact him for that.
But please keep us informed about what he says and if you send it in.

My .243 was un changed except for 3-groove .358 awesomeness on the inside. I sent it without the sights then put them back on after. I love this gun. The Whelan will be great. Get on it!

C Latch my .358's first group with Sierra 200gr RN was 3 shots in 3/4". Last weekend my RCBS 217grs over IMR 3031 did 3 shots in 1-1/8"(2.5X scope). I consider that Excellent for any price.
    Best, Thomas.

    Thanks.

It's certainly an attractive, economical option.

It's either that or one of the .35 caliber wildcats for an ar15. I'd prefer the latter, I just wish there was more info and support for at least one of the latter.
