I like to have my pot and pour up off the ground a bit. Really saves the back and knees. A couple of saw horses and a sheet of plywood will do for a pouring table. A quarter sheet on cement block risers will bring the pot to a more ergonomic height. Make sure you have the base very steady for the pot!
Nice set up Duke. Looks like you got plenty of ingot molds there. That is something I need to get more of to help me speed things up a bit.
Fast is fine, but accuracy is final!
Will kill for food!
i put my pot up on concrete blocks and my moulds on an old portable black & decker workbench to save back bending on big smelts. I found it also keeps me from bending over the pot as much.
My wife gave me some heavy canvas summer bibs, basically like chaps that cover ankle to chest only in the front. In GA heat & humidity these are great.
I particularly like that ladle and handle and you really should get a haircut.

Duke,
You shouldn't need to worry about the table top boards cracking/splitting from contracting and expanding unless you have them tightly screwed down to the saw horse.
The table tops and hard wood panels I have made are normally just glued together after running them through a jointer to get a straight edge. The glue is stronger than the wood. If you are going to pound on the table, you may want to add biscuits, dowels, or a spline to the joint. Any of these will help align the boards also.

I had to do it like that. The wood was damp it was so freshly cut and the heat here in Vegas will shrink it like you would not believe. Besides it's just a gloryified pic-nic table and I probably put in to much effort as it is. Just a note, this table will be sitting in the sun at 110 degrees too. The top is not screwed to the saw horses.

Gotta say you always run high end Duke! You could park a truck on that thing. My pouring table is literally a sheet of 3/4 ply between 2 saw horses. It chars up a bit from the heat of the molds and ingots. I suppose if it ever gets too bad, I'll just replace the sheet:

Thanks all. I don't have but $20.00 in the top and $14.00 for the 2X4's. The saw horse brackets were in the trash dump of the back 40 when I bought the place. (Party House)
Got it moved to the back.
Quite the stack you got there Ima. How many buckets of lead to make that pile?
I also used the table for a good part of the night to sort WW's on. Much better than bending over pulling them out of the bucket. I just threw a large piece of target carboard on it and dumped the buckets out. Another reason that I over built it.

That's indoor range scrap from those 5 buckets in the background. The next weekend, I did another 6 buckets, and that's what I've been living off for the last couple years. When the weather cools off just a bit more, I have 4 more buckets of range scrap and 2 of WW to get into ingots. That's all I've managed to scrounge since the source that gave me the 11 buckets went away.

Why thanks carpetman.
I did not know Wranglers were designer though.
Shirt out is a safety procedure at least in my book.
Wife does not cook so no muffin pans.
Would rather have Jennifer Tilly shaped Muffin tins.

YES! After they were full the ingots broke when I flipped them.
It's a big one. 9 pounds of lead. http://catalog.advancecarmover.com/c...rowell-ladles?
