I used to place a fan behind me while casting to blow the fume out of my small shop(10' x 12'). This definitely caused a problem in the winter because I didn't want to freeze lol. So I finally got around to putting in a power vent for my cast pot. The down pipe is removable when not in use and the metal panel covering the fan is screwed in so if or when the fan goes out it can easily be replaced. Worked great even when fluxing the pot with pine saw dust. Winter casting to commence

None of the pipes are fixed into place so there is play. The large down pipe can be swung out of the way for lead adding. I only used aluminum tape at the upper end of the elbow for fumes sake.

I did some winter casting today--outside!

Started, it was 76° and finished right about 78°

'Course this coming summer will make up for days like today

Did a little casting today too but it was about 34° out and had to put ice cleats on to even get to the shop. Fired up the wood stove and it was a nice 80° in there but only did a couple hundred of em'. Only seem to shoot about so many a year so with lots more winter to come have to ration out the sessions.

you could always just throw newly cast boolits back in the pot to extend your casting times.
Or cut all your molds down to single cavity.

That's a nice set up, I may have sprung for something like that but I usually just cast in the garage with the door open. May still do something similar

I built a "casting booth" just like a chemical fume hood found in science labs. I used a range hood with high cfm's from the scratch and dent area of my local Lowes store. 6" pipe vents it to the outside. It has 2 fan speeds and 4 mini halogen light bulbs with 2 brightness settings. It didn't break the bank and allows me to cast indoors year round. I'm replenishing my boolit inventory over the winter so I am ready for the summer leagues and matches.

I did like pergoman. I've shown this before, but I'm quite proud of it. Also set up my old 10# pot as a premelter to feed the 20# pot.

I too tend to cast up during the winter for my spring/summer/fall supply of boolits!

Im revamping my shop now and going to install a vent-a-hood like PatrickL did going to have a dedicated room for casting and sizing
