    30-06 cast

I have a sporterize American Enfield. $200 with w\Weaver 2.5x scope . i cast 200 g Accurate clone of Lyman 314299. Very accurate. 308 or 30-06 make a good cast gun. Gas checks even with low power loads.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I'll keep my eyes open in my local area. That 721 looks nice. For new rifles, that Howa doesn't look half bad....

I have a Sears branded Winchester made Boot Action in 06. I cut the comb down on the stock and mounted a Lyman peep. Kind of a low budget set up. But my favorite shooter. 200 grain cast with about 12.5 unique that rifle is a lot of fun.

I have a 98 Mauser with a Shilen Barrel I have used for cast in the 06. It has a great trigger and a homemade reciever sight the original owner built for it. He was a wizard with a lathe and wanted to make a copy of the Lyman 57. I would let it go for $400 + shipping. If you are interested PM for pics after Christmas.
It would keep boolits on the 18"x24" plate @ 417 yards at NCBS all day from the bench and my son did 5 for 5 offhand. My eyes are no longer able to see enough to group well with irons. I have 4 inserts for the front sight perhaps more. Thumbhole stock with a shooters elbow sling.

I just looked at a 721 in a shop for a little over $300. I'd sure rather have that than one of the bottom rung rifles they're selling now.

A few years ago, a very nicely sporterized Chech Mauser in .30-06 followed me home, beautiful rifle, after market trigger, shoots very well and the leupold glass on it was worth half the asking price of $350. I had no need of it, but it was too good a deal to pass up. They're out there, keep your eyes open. With hunting seasons ending all over, prices will go down.
