How tight is the die suppose to be when installing one or how much force is needed to put one in? This is my first go with one and I want to be sure not mess it up. Mine seems to require a lot of pressure? Charlie

It should be a snug fit, but alignment is also important. I set the die in place, and then put a flat piece of metal (Hornaday die wrench) on top of the die and lower the handle to push the die all the way in until it's seated flush with the housing. I keep a little pressure on the handle while I tighten the lock screw.
Hope this helps.

Agree with Fred.

I use the die puller tool and just leave the threaded part in where the punch goes.
they are a lot easier to pull and replace if the sizer is allowed to warm up first.
I threaded the exit hole on my mounting plate 5/8-11 and use a bolt to remove my die rather than using the removal tools. Just screw the bolt into underside of mounting plate and bolt will bare on lower surface of die ans push die upward. A little heat helps when removing and installing dies. (80 / 90 F or so)

Yesterday I got my Star sizer running and now I have to cast more lead. Which is not a bad thing.
